A coach, a math teacher, and a principal all walk into a bar…

 

Just kidding, that’s not really how Culture Shock Innovations started, but it's not far off.

 

It was more like an English teacher/coach, a math teacher/student council advisor, and an energetic, inspiring high school principal, just walked out of a professional development seminar and then into the bar.

All three, known for their motivational, high-energy style, had spent years using innovative methods to engage their students, classes, and schools. All three were committed to building fun, positive school cultures. And yet, here they were, disheartened by the disconnect between professional development theory and what schools truly need to thrive. They were frustrated by the lack of actionable, engaging strategies offered in workshops. They were questioning how something meant to improve the educational experience could feel so irrelevant, dull, and unproductive.

The answer was simple, it shouldn’t. They set out to change that very issue.

They are educators from different corners of the school system, who share a common frustration with the state of professional development in education. The three of them recognized a glaring gap in the system: professional development focused too heavily on compliance and not enough on culture or creativity. Schools didn’t need more rigid frameworks or one-size-fits-all strategies. They needed experiences that empowered educators, inspired students, and unified school communities. They needed energy. They needed enthusiasm. They needed something that could shock the whole professional development foundation.

With this shared vision, they founded Culture Shock Innovations. Their goal was simple but revolutionary: to transform professional development into an energizing, collaborative, invested experience that teachers, students, and administrators alike would look forward to. They aimed to move beyond traditional training models and create workshops that fostered connection, creativity, meaningful, and immediate culture change in schools.

And so…Ladies and gentlemen…We are Culture Shock Innovations, and we are here to reignite passion in education and redefine what professional development could be.
